Large Digital LED Process Countdown & Overage Timer w/Manual and Machine Inputs

Dana Corporation is utilizing this system to time specific production tasks on their assembly line. The modular, plug-and-play design allows for quick setup and easy maintenance. Whether controlled manually by operators or integrated into automated machine systems, the DC-405T-DN-NEG-WR delivers the timing accuracy needed to keep processes efficient and accountable.
We’re highlighting one of our latest custom-engineered solutions: the DC-405T-DN-NEG-WR, a four-inch, four-digit countdown timer with an additional negative digit feature. This timer was specifically produced for Dana Corporation to improve efficiency on their assembly line, where precise timing is critical for production periods.
The DC-405T-DN-NEG-WR is more than just a standard countdown clock—it’s a highly adaptable tool designed to provide visibility, flexibility, and accountability on the production floor. Built with durability and ease of use in mind, it ensures accurate timing that operators and managers can rely on.
Key Features of the DC-405T-DN-NEG-WR
- Countdown and Negative Time Tracking: The timer counts down from a preset value in minutes and seconds. Once it reaches 00:00, the display flashes and continues into negative time, clearly showing overage periods.
- Wired Remote Control: The unit comes with a modular handheld remote, typically with a 25-foot cord and RJ45 connector. This allows easy setup and operation, including setting minutes, seconds, starting, stopping, zeroing, and recalling the last preset value.
- Redundant Hardwired Controls: Additional pigtail connections on the back provide inputs for Start, Stop, and Reset functions. These can be triggered by external contact closures or PNP inputs, enabling integration with PLCs or machine controls for hands-free operation.
- Large, High-Visibility LED Display: Four-inch digits provide clear viewing up to 200 feet away, making it easy for both operators and supervisors to monitor progress.
- Rugged Build: The timer is housed in an extruded aluminum case with a red acrylic lens and a textured black powder-coated finish for durability in industrial environments.
- Made in the USA: Built entirely in the United States by a veteran-owned company, ensuring quality craftsmanship and reliability.
How It Works
Using the handheld remote, operators can easily set a countdown value—minutes and seconds—then start, stop, or reset the timer with simple button presses. If an operator stops at two minutes, for example, they can recall the preset and return to the original value instantly.
The additional pigtail connections provide a second method of control, particularly useful in production lines. Connected through terminal blocks, these inputs allow managers to enforce timing procedures by starting, stopping, or resetting the timer through machine or PLC signals. This redundancy ensures the timer remains both flexible and enforceable, depending on the needs of the workflow.
When the countdown reaches zero, the display doesn’t just stop—it automatically flashes, signaling the end of the period, and transitions into a negative count. This feature provides supervisors with immediate visual feedback that a process has exceeded its allotted time, creating maximum awareness for keeping operations on track.
