Lutron Electronics has reached out to DC-Digital for a method of managing the workflow of their workers who are craft products by hand. Our DC-10T-DN-NEMA Foot Switch Operated Manufacturing Digital Countdown Timer is a purpose-built solution designed to help manufacturers regulate and control the flow of production directly from their workstation. This unit is commonly used in handmade and manual-production environments where consistency, timing accuracy, and hands-free operation are critical. By placing the timer directly on a desktop using our newly introduced tripod mounting system, operators can easily manage timed work cycles without interrupting their workflow.

The system operates in a simple and intuitive manner. After powering the unit, the operator places it on top of their desk using the DC-TRIPOD-DESKTOP-1, which mounts securely to the bottom of the NEMA enclosure using included brackets. The desired countdown time is then set using the push-button controls located on the top of the enclosure. Once the time is programmed, the countdown is started using the sealed foot switch, allowing the user to begin timing without using their hands. This setup is ideal for workstations where operators are actively handling parts, tools, or materials.

This countdown timer is designed to give operators full control over timing functions. Users can set seconds and minutes independently, start or stop the countdown at any time, reset to the last programmed value, or reset the timer completely back to zero. The unit supports countdown durations up to a maximum of 99 minutes and 59 seconds, making it suitable for a wide range of production tasks. When the countdown reaches zero, an end-of-period alarm sounds for approximately five seconds to clearly notify the operator that the cycle has completed.

  • Resetting the timer completely to zero
  • Hands-free operation using a sealed foot switch

The included DC-Sealed Foot Switch is directly wired into the NEMA enclosure and allows the operator to start and stop the countdown without touching the timer. This makes the system especially effective in handmade factories and assembly environments where efficiency and cleanliness are important. The foot switch is IP-68 rated, water resistant, and includes 25 feet of cabling for flexible placement at the workstation.

From a hardware standpoint, the DC-10T-DN-NEMA is built for industrial use. It features a NEMA 4X, IP66-rated polycarbonate enclosure with a UL 94 5VA flammability rating, providing protection against dust, water, and harsh environments. The timer includes a 1-inch, four-digit display that is clearly visible from up to 25 feet away, making it easy to read from across a workbench or production area.
