DC-Digital recently completed a unique custom project for Haleon Group — the DC-806C-TERM-W-IN, a dual-view digital counter system designed for precision, convenience, and flexibility in real-world applications. This innovative display was engineered to meet Haleon’s specific request: a counter that can be viewed from both sides and controlled wirelessly or via wired connections — all while remaining intuitive to operate and simple to maintain.


Overview of the DC-806C-TERM-W-IN

The DC-806C-TERM-W-IN is a six-digit indoor LED counter built with DC-Digital’s signature attention to durability and performance. Although similar in structure to our outdoor models, this particular unit has reduced-intensity indoor LEDs and omits the IP-66 waterproofing materials. It’s powered by a six-foot, 120 VAC plug-in cord, making setup fast and straightforward.

What sets this model apart is its dual-control capability — users can operate it wirelessly or through direct wired controls simultaneously. This provides unmatched flexibility in different industrial or production settings.


Wireless Remote Features

Haleon’s setup includes a wireless remote that provides full functionality with ease of mobility.

  • The remote includes +1, -1, Set, and Reset to Zero (0) functions.
  • It operates using a 9-volt alkaline battery and includes a belt clip for convenience.
  • The wireless signal allows operators to control the counter remotely without interrupting workflow or requiring access to the mounted junction box.

The wireless remote ensures that count adjustments can be made instantly, keeping operations efficient and user-friendly.


Wired Control System

In addition to wireless control, the DC-806C-TERM-W-IN also includes a wired control junction box.

  • The wired setup includes increment (+1), decrement (-1), and reset to zero (0) controls.
  • Unlike the wireless remote, the wired interface does not include the “Set” function, focusing instead on quick and precise manual adjustments.
  • The wiring uses color-coded connections (brown for reset, blue for decrement, yellow for increment) that can be easily tied into switch commons, providing seamless integration into Haleon’s workflow.

This dual setup ensures reliability and redundancy — even if the remote battery runs low, operations can continue uninterrupted through the wired interface.


Adjustable Increment Control with BCD Switches

One of the standout features of the DC-806C-TERM-W-IN is its customizable increment and decrement values. Haleon wanted the ability to adjust how much each count changes per input pulse. To meet this need, DC-Digital integrated BCD (Binary Coded Decimal) dip switches directly into the junction box cover.

These dip switches allow users to set the increment value anywhere from 1 to 64 per count. The configuration is extremely simple:

  • Each of the six dip switches represents a binary position.
  • When all switches are off (down), the increment equals +1.
  • Users can flip the switches up in various combinations to achieve different increment values (e.g., +2, +4, +8, etc.).
  • These settings are retained in the junction box, keeping the setup compact, durable, and easy to access when needed.

This allows precise control over counting behavior — essential for specialized manufacturing and production monitoring applications.


Performance and Functionality

The counter operates smoothly, ramping up speed as counts increase. When the Set function is held, the count accelerates to allow large number adjustments quickly, and pressing Set again pauses the increment for fine-tuning with +1 and -1 controls. This makes it ideal for applications requiring both bulk adjustments and high precision.

The system’s six-digit display ensures readability even from a distance, and the dual-view configuration ensures visibility from both sides — perfect for production floors or workstations where visibility from multiple angles is essential.
