Today we’re showcasing our latest custom order—the DC-40T-DN-W, a 4-digit countdown timer designed specifically for JCB Systems, a heavy equipment manufacturer based in Georgia. This unit was built to support their takt time operations in two sub-assembly areas, ensuring employees stay on pace with the daily build plan. With both visual and audible indicators, this timer provides maximum awareness of when a station should index, helping JCB maintain efficiency and accuracy on the production floor.

The display features 4-inch high LED digits that are visible from up to 200 feet away, making it impossible to miss. When the countdown hits zero, a buzzer sounds for three seconds, then the timer automatically resets to the last preset value. This looping function allows the system to run hands-free once started, giving employees clear and consistent reminders to keep on schedule.

To meet JCB’s request for redundancy, the DC-40T-DN-W includes two different types of controllers:

• Wired Controller: Connects with a 25 ft cord using an RJ-45 connector, providing local control right at the station.
• Wireless Controller: A belt-clip unit powered by a 9-volt battery with a 1,500 ft range, operating on a 900 MHz radio frequency.

Both controllers perform the same functions—set minutes, set seconds, reset to last value, zero out, and start/stop—giving operators complete flexibility whether they’re close to the unit or working at a distance.

The DC-40T-DN-W is capable of timing up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds, making it ideal for sub-assembly takt cycles. JCB requested a minutes-and-seconds-only configuration for simplicity and precision in their process flow. The buzzer length is also adjustable, ensuring the audible alert fits their production environment needs.

Installation and power are straightforward. The timer runs off a standard 120V wall outlet and can be mounted in a variety of ways: on a 2×4 or 4×4 handy box, directly on a wall, or set on a table using the included rubber feet. Its all-aluminum enclosure makes it durable for industrial use, and like all of our products, it’s handmade in the USA by DC-Digital—a veteran-owned company.
