In order to tell the time from 4 different areas throughout the world, CACI decided to work with DC-Digital to create a new unit that would help in that endeavor. The DC-25TZ-4-CC Changeable Caption Time Zone Clock is a four-zone, next-generation time display designed for environments that demand flexibility, reliability, and long-term independence from operating system utilities. This model was engineered as a forward-looking solution, replacing legacy software-dependent configuration tools with an embedded web-based interface that lives directly inside the clock itself. Once connected, setup and management can be handled through a standard web browser, eliminating the need for proprietary programs or ongoing OS dependencies.
This clock supports four independent time zones, each with customizable captions and offsets based on UTC. Configuration is performed through a built-in web page hosted on the device, accessed via the Ethernet connection. Initial setup only needs to be done once, after which all settings are stored in nonvolatile memory. Captions, offsets, and time zone names are preserved even through power cycles, making the unit well suited for permanent or remote installations.
From the web interface, users can view UTC time, product information, and network status, as well as configure network settings. The clock can be set to either a static or dynamic IP address, and secure access is controlled through a configurable username and password. Time synchronization can be handled automatically through a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server, with adjustable update intervals, or switched to full manual operation when network access is unavailable.
Each of the four zones can be individually named and assigned a UTC offset down to hours, minutes, and seconds. Offsets can be positive or negative depending on location relative to UTC, and caption text supports punctuation such as periods and dashes. Any changes made through the web interface immediately update both the displayed captions and the corresponding time zones.
In addition to network configuration, the DC-25TZ-4-CC includes push buttons on the top of the enclosure for direct, local control. These buttons allow users to operate the clock entirely without a network connection. UTC time can be manually set, including hours, minutes, and seconds, and offsets for each zone can be adjusted in five-minute increments directly from the unit. Visual caption prompts on the displays guide the user through each adjustment, and all changes are automatically saved to nonvolatile memory.
During power-up, the clock displays its assigned IP address, making it easy to locate on a network. Once synchronized or manually set, the leftmost display serves as the UTC reference, with all four zones derived from that base time. This design allows the clock to be configured in a controlled environment and then deployed in the field without requiring ongoing network connectivity.
Key functional highlights include:
- Four independent time zones derived from a single UTC reference
- Changeable captions stored in nonvolatile memory
- Embedded web-based configuration page hosted inside the clock
- Network or fully manual operation with no OS software dependency
- Adjustable UTC offsets down to minutes and seconds
- Top-mounted push buttons for on-device setup and adjustments
Physically, the DC-25TZ-4-CC is built for durability and professional installations. It features large 2.3-inch high digits for time display and high-resolution matrix caption displays for zone identification. The enclosure is constructed from extruded aluminum with a bonded red acrylic lens and Lexan front, creating a solid, long-lasting assembly. Adjustable rear mounting tabs allow for flexible wall installation. Power is supplied via a standard 120V three-prong outlet, and Ethernet connectivity is available when network access is desired.
This clock is ideal for applications such as banks, network operations centers, military and government facilities, and industrial or remote installations where reliability, autonomy, and precise time coordination across multiple regions are critical.
