The Creek nature resort has requested DC-Digital to make an outdoor timer for their swimming competitions and training. The DC-806-GPS-UTW custom configuration brings together precision GPS time synchronization and a fully wireless multi-function timer in one powerful, easy-to-use system. Designed for customers who need reliable, accurate time along with flexible timing control, this unit integrates atomic clock accuracy with a handheld wireless controller to seamlessly transition between time-of-day display and timer functions.

At the core of this system is the GPS functionality. The included GPS antenna captures signals from global positioning satellites to provide continuous atomic time synchronization. For proper operation, the GPS antenna must be installed in clear, unobstructed view of the sky. Once positioned correctly, the clock automatically maintains precise time without ever requiring manual setting. The system is always referencing atomic time through the GPS antenna, ensuring ongoing accuracy.

In addition to the GPS antenna, the DC-806-GPS-UTW includes a separate antenna dedicated to the UTW portion of the system. The UTW module enables wireless control of a multi-function timer, allowing users to operate count-up and countdown modes from a handheld controller powered by a 9-volt battery.

When in clock mode, the display utilizes the GPS antenna and continuously shows atomic time. With a simple press of the “Clock/Timer” button on the wireless handheld controller, the unit switches from time-of-day display into timer mode. Pressing the button again returns the display to clock mode when timers are not in use. Even while operating timer functions, the GPS clock continues running in the background.

The UTW timer functionality includes:

  • Clock mode with continuous GPS-synchronized atomic time
  • Count-up timer with automatic format shift
  • Countdown timer with programmable time entry
  • Start, Stop, and Zero controls
  • “Last Value” recall for quick reset to previously entered countdown time
  • Wireless handheld control powered by 9V battery

In count-up mode, an illuminated upper-left decimal point indicates the direction of timing. Upon pressing Start, the timer begins counting seconds and minutes. Once the timer exceeds 59 seconds, it automatically shifts to display hours, minutes, and seconds for extended timing applications. The Stop button pauses the timer, and the Zero button clears the display, preparing it for a new count cycle.

The countdown mode allows users to enter precise time values. For example, a countdown can be set for 1 hour, 1 minute, and 1 second. Once started, the timer counts down accordingly. If stopped mid-cycle, the “Last Value” button instantly restores the previously programmed time, allowing the countdown to restart without re-entry. Alternatively, the timer can be zeroed and programmed with a new value, such as a 5-minute interval. When active, the display dynamically shifts formats as needed, including tenths and hundredths when appropriate, ensuring clear, accurate timing feedback.

Throughout all operations, the GPS clock remains active in the background, maintaining atomic time accuracy at all times.

The DC-806-GPS-UTW is ideal for applications requiring precise timekeeping combined with flexible, wireless-controlled timing functionality. With proper antenna placement and simple handheld operation, this system delivers dependable performance, seamless switching between clock and timer modes, and long-term accuracy without manual adjustment.
