Our latest custom project, the DC-25T-DN-WR, was designed specifically for Spectrum News Station, providing a dependable and easy-to-operate wired master-secondary countdown system that supports studio efficiency with high-visibility displays and robust control options.

This custom setup features 2.3-inch high red LED digits, visible from up to 120 feet away, ensuring anchors, directors, and technicians can always keep track of broadcast timing at a glance. The system consists of a master and secondary timer, both modularly connected with RJ-45 connectors for a clean, wired configuration.

Key Features of the DC-25T-DN-WR System:

  • Master/Secondary Configuration: The master controls the system while the secondary mirrors its display, ensuring synchronized timing across the studio.
  • Wired Remote (WR): Includes all the standard functions of our DN Countdown Timer — Start, Stop, Reset, Zero, and Set controls for hours, minutes, and seconds.
  • Shift-Digit Technology: Automatically shifts display focus to the most significant digit during countdowns for maximum readability.
  • Redundant Controls: Both the master unit and foot switch offer mirrored start/stop functionality for flexible control options.
  • Anchor Foot Switch Integration: Allows on-air talent to independently start, stop, and reset the countdown as needed during live segments.
  • Rugged Aluminum Construction: Built from 14-gauge all-aluminum, this system is designed for durability in professional environments.
  • Flexible Mounting Options: Can be mounted on a four-square or handy box using just four screws, or set on a desktop using the included rubber feet.
  • Simple Power Connection: Includes a 120V pigtail cord for direct wiring into an electrical box.

Every aspect of this system has been optimized for simplicity and redundancy — the wired modular setup means there’s no need for wireless configuration or interference issues, making it a perfect fit for the high-demand, low-latency environment of live news broadcasting.

Both master and secondary units operate identically, offering full synchronization and reliability even if one unit is relocated or replaced. In this installation, Spectrum News Station wanted the anchor to have control at their position, so the foot switch was added for on-air operation. This ensures quick reactions for timing cues — starting, stopping, or resetting the timer instantly as the broadcast flow demands.
