DC-Digital has once again delivered a precision-engineered custom timing solution, this time for Rotopax, who needed a reliable and efficient way to regulate their assembly line flow. Their new DC-40T-DN-BCD Assembly Line Down Timer ensures each cart stays on station for the correct amount of time before the next one arrives — keeping production balanced, consistent, and safe.

This four-inch LED display timer offers exceptional visibility up to 200 feet, making it ideal for large environments such as assembly lines, gymnasiums, or auditoriums. The model is housed in a 0.063 aluminum formed enclosure, designed to endure industrial environments while maintaining a clean, professional appearance.

The terminal block design makes wiring simple and efficient, featuring three standard input terminations:

• Reset to preset BCD value
• Start/stop control
• Optional 24V power input connection

The system is versatile — it can operate using contact closure or accept 5–30V DC positive (PNP) inputs. For demonstration, the unit can be connected to a 60mm palm switch within a weatherproof enclosure, complete with 25 feet of cable for convenient operation at the production site.

Once powered and configured, the timer counts down from a preset value, automatically resetting and starting at the next trigger. The built-in Andon light activates and flashes when the timer reaches zero, providing a clear visual signal that the station’s cycle has ended. When the cart moves away from the area sensor (roller switch), the system resets, ready for the next process.

Each timer is customizable via BCD rotary switches located on the top of the unit. These allow users to easily adjust each digit between 0–9, setting precise countdown times up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds. For Rotopax, the timer is configured for minutes and seconds — their standard production cycle.

Installation is also made simple. The DC-40T-DN-BCD mounts securely on:

• 4-square or handy boxes (2×4)
• Keyhole slots for wall hanging
• Removable modular faceplate for quick access to internal electronics

Inside, the mainboard receives timing data directly from the BCD switch, translating it into a seamless countdown operation. The entire system is designed for modular assembly, making maintenance and setup fast and straightforward.
