The DC-60C-Term is a custom outdoor count-up counter designed for applications where individual objects, parts, or events need to be tracked automatically. Built with a durable IP66-rated extruded aluminum enclosure and a highly visible 6-inch red LED display, the counter provides a practical solution for outdoor and wet-location counting requirements. This custom configuration was developed with 12VDC operation, external control pigtails, and a weatherproof manual reset function, making it well suited for installations that require flexible field wiring and dependable operation.

The DC-60C-Term counts upward by one each time an external signal is received. In the demonstrated configuration, an Eaton PNP sensor is connected to the counter and detects an object as it passes in front of the sensor. Each sensor pulse causes the displayed count to increment, allowing the system to automatically record the number of objects passing through a designated point without requiring an operator to manually advance the count.

The counter’s external control connections provide several ways to control the displayed number. The increment input can receive pulses from an external sensor, PLC, switch, or other compatible control device. A separate decrement connection allows the displayed count to be reduced when required, while a dedicated reset-to-zero input returns the display to zero. These connections are provided through pigtails in the junction box, giving installers direct access to the counter’s control functions.

One of the distinguishing features of this custom configuration is its 12VDC power operation. While the standard DC-60C-Term is normally configured for 24VDC operation, this version incorporates a converter to accommodate a 12VDC power source. This makes the counter particularly useful for applications where 12VDC power is already available or where the installation requires a lower-voltage DC power arrangement.

Reset functionality is also designed for practical field operation. A weatherproof membrane switch provides a convenient way to manually reset the displayed count to zero, while the dedicated reset pigtail can be connected to an external control device. The tactile top-mounted button provides another direct method of resetting the counter when an operator is working near the display.

The outdoor enclosure is constructed from tough extruded aluminum and finished with a black powder coating. Its IP66 rating provides protection for outdoor and wet-location installations, while the sunlight-resistant red LEDs maintain visibility in demanding lighting conditions. The four 6-inch digits use individual 5mm oval LEDs with a 110-degree horizontal and 40-degree vertical viewing angle, providing a viewing distance of approximately 300 feet.

The DC-60C-Term measures approximately 16-1/8 inches wide by 7-3/4 inches tall by 3-1/4 inches deep and incorporates two slotted teardrop mounting tabs for installation. Its combination of automatic sensor counting, manual controls, multiple external control inputs, 12VDC operation, and outdoor-rated construction makes it adaptable to a wide range of object and event counting applications.

Whether connected to a PNP proximity sensor, a control system, or manually operated, the DC-60C-Term provides a straightforward method for displaying a continuously updated count in an easy-to-read outdoor display. The custom configuration demonstrates how the counter can be adapted with specific power and control requirements to meet the needs of an individual installation.
