The UCLA football team ordered DC-Digital’s DC-300P-S stationary football play clocks to provide highly visible, wireless-controlled countdown timing for game-day delay-of-game management. Designed for football environments where players, coaches, officials, and spectators need to see the remaining play time from a distance, the DC-300P-S combines 30-inch LED digits, battery operation, RF wireless control, and a rugged outdoor enclosure into a complete portable timing solution.
The DC-300P-S provides a seconds countdown timer with a maximum programmed time of 99 seconds. Three fully programmable timer settings allow the play clock to be configured for different timing requirements. The handheld RF wireless controller provides direct control of the displays from the field or sideline, allowing the operator to reset and start the programmed countdown without requiring a hardwired connection to the play clock.
Each of the three timer presets is operated through the handheld controller. A first press of the corresponding Reset button loads the programmed time, while a second press starts the countdown. A dedicated Set Timer function allows the programmed reset value to be changed, while the ON/OFF control provides convenient display operation. This setup allows the same play clock system to accommodate different countdown requirements as needed during football activities.
The DC-300P-S uses a 902–928 MHz LoRa RF control module and a 900 MHz handheld remote. The wireless system is FCC tested and certified and is designed for reliable control without requiring a physical cable between the operator and the display. The remote includes a belt clip for convenient carrying while operating the play clocks around the field.
Large 30-inch red LED digits provide high visibility across the football field. The high-power 5mm oval LEDs use a wide 110 x 40-degree viewing angle and sunlight-resistant construction, allowing the countdown to remain readable during outdoor daytime use. With a specified viewing distance of up to 1,500 feet, the displays can provide clear timing information to players and coaches positioned well away from the play clock.
The battery-operated design allows the UCLA football team to position the play clocks where they are needed without depending on nearby AC power. Heavy-duty deep-cycle 12-volt sealed lead-acid batteries provide a minimum of eight hours of operation, with chargers included for maintaining the system between uses. This makes the DC-300P-S suitable for extended football practices, games, training sessions, and other field applications where flexible placement is important.
