Honeywell Aerospace has purchased several custom-built DC-Digital countdown timers over the past year for applications requiring precise timing, durable construction, and controlled operation in demanding industrial environments.
The DC-10T-DN-NEMA is a compact four-digit countdown timer featuring 1-inch red LED digits and a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure. Designed for applications where reliable countdown timing is important, the timer can count down from 99 hours to hundredths of a second while providing multiple control and end-of-period options.
Custom Countdown Timer for Industrial Applications
Honeywell Aerospace selected a customized version of the DC-10T-DN-NEMA with features designed around its operational requirements. The timer includes environmentally sealed momentary push-button switches mounted on the top of the enclosure for convenient control.
The timer provides Start-Stop, Reset to Last Value, Reset to Zero, Set Minutes, and Set Hours functions. The last programmed value is retained even after power is removed, allowing the timer to return to its previous setting when powered back on.
One of the key custom features is a control switch lockout function. This allows a floor supervisor to enable or disable the setting buttons and Start-Stop buttons, helping prevent unauthorized changes to the timer during operation.
End-of-Period Relay and Countdown Functions
When the countdown reaches 00:00, the display flashes on and off to indicate that the programmed period has ended. The timer can also be configured with optional end-of-period functions, including a flashing count-up overage display, ANDON light, audible tone, or relay outputs.
For the Honeywell Aerospace application, the custom timer was configured with a 3-second end-of-period relay closure, providing an additional signal when the countdown reaches its end.
NEMA 4X Enclosure for Demanding Environments
The DC-10T-DN-NEMA uses a durable polycarbonate enclosure designed for demanding industrial environments. The enclosure carries NEMA 4X, NEMA 6, NEMA 6P, NEMA 12, NEMA 12K, NEMA 13, and IP-66 ratings, providing protection against dust, water, and other environmental conditions.
The enclosure measures approximately 6-1/4 inches wide by 6-1/4 inches tall by 2-3/8 inches deep and includes four through-holes in the corners for mounting. The UV-stabilized polycarbonate construction also provides a rugged housing for the LED display and control electronics.
The four super-bright red LED digits measure 1 inch in height and are designed for viewing distances of approximately 25 feet.
