The DC-40T-UP-BCD-ANDON End of Period Wired Loading Bay Door Timer is a custom-built solution designed to help shipping facilities, warehouses, postal service centers, and loading dock operations accurately monitor and manage unloading times for the United States Postal Services in Pennsylvania. This system provides a reliable visual and audible indication whenever unloading operations exceed a preset threshold time, helping facilities improve workflow efficiency, monitor productivity, and reduce delays during package and freight handling operations.
This custom Andon timer operates using a magnetic sensor switch mounted directly to a loading bay or garage-style door. When the door opens, the magnetic contact separates from the base and immediately starts the up timer. The timer begins counting upward in minutes and seconds, allowing operators and supervisors to monitor how long unloading operations are taking in real time.
The desired threshold time is fully adjustable through the built-in BCD rotary switches located at the top of the enclosure. Using a flathead screwdriver, the user can quickly configure the timer to activate at any desired time interval up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds. This allows the system to be tailored to specific unloading goals, delivery schedules, or operational benchmarks depending on facility requirements.
Once the programmed threshold is reached, the system activates the DC-EOPB-7595 end of period alarm for approximately 15 seconds while simultaneously triggering the integrated Andon indicator light. The audible alarm immediately alerts personnel that unloading time has exceeded the desired limit, while the Andon light remains illuminated until the loading bay door closes and the magnetic switch reconnects to its base.
In operation, the system provides a simple but highly effective process:
• Door opens and magnetic sensor separates
• Up timer immediately begins counting upward
• Timer continues running until threshold is reached
• Audible end-of-period alarm activates for 15 seconds
• Red Andon indicator remains active after alarm ends
• Door closes and magnetic switch reconnects
• Timer pauses and Andon indicator resets
This functionality allows supervisors to visually identify delays in unloading operations while maintaining accurate elapsed time tracking. Whether unloading normally takes 10 seconds or extends to 38 seconds or longer, the system clearly displays the total elapsed unloading duration for operational analysis and performance monitoring.
Inside the enclosure, the unit utilizes an integrated opto input board that allows external devices such as magnetic switches and dry contact inputs to interface directly with the timer system. The magnetic sensor wiring connects through the opto board terminals, providing a reliable and isolated triggering method for industrial environments.
The opto board accepts:
• Dry contact closures
• 5-30 VDC PNP inputs
• 24 VDC powered input devices
The wiring configuration is straightforward for installation personnel. The red wire connects to the positive input terminal while the black common wire connects to the negative terminal. Once wired, the magnetic switch controls the timer operation automatically as the loading door opens and closes.
The DC-40T-UP-BCD-ANDON is housed in a rugged 14-gauge aluminum enclosure finished with a fingerprint-resistant black powder coat for long-term durability in industrial environments. The large 4-inch LED display provides excellent long-distance visibility up to 200 feet away, making it easy for operators and supervisors to monitor unloading activity from across the warehouse floor or loading area.
Key hardware and operational features include:
• 4-inch high visibility LED display
• Four-digit timer display
• Counts up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds
• Adjustable BCD rotary switch time settings
• Heavy-duty aluminum enclosure
• Fingerprint-resistant black powder coating
• 24 VDC power input compatibility
• Integrated opto input board
• Audible end-of-period alarm
• Multi-color Andon status indicator
• Heavy-duty magnetic door sensor
• Teardrop knockout mounting system
Included accessory options for this custom system include the DC-Door-Magnet-25 heavy-duty garage door magnetic sensor with 25 feet of pigtail cord, as well as the DC-EOPB-7595 audible alarm module that activates once the programmed threshold has been exceeded.
The integrated Andon indicator provides additional visual management functionality by displaying a red status light whenever unloading operations exceed the configured threshold time. This creates an immediate visual alert for supervisors and employees, helping facilities improve response times and operational accountability.
The DC-40T-UP-BCD-ANDON End of Period Wired Loading Bay Door Timer delivers an effective industrial timing solution for package unloading operations, postal service facilities, warehouse docks, freight terminals, and logistics environments where monitoring unloading efficiency and reducing turnaround times are critical to daily operations.
