In today’s fast-paced manufacturing environments, clear and reliable communication across the plant floor is critical. Our custom Tire Code Identification System is designed to deliver exactly that—providing a scalable, network-controlled solution for displaying static tire codes and production identifiers across multiple locations within a facility. Fast Signs in Tuscaloosa has brought in a very high profile customer to see if we could accommodate this type of system for the customers plant.
This system was engineered specifically for a customer looking to streamline how tire codes are communicated throughout their plant. Instead of relying on multiple independent displays or complex infrastructure, this solution uses a centralized master control with a simple, efficient wiring approach to distribute data across all connected displays.
At the core of the system is a master control unit that hosts a customizable web interface. This controller connects directly to your network, allowing operators to input and manage display data from any connected computer. Once a value is entered—whether it’s a tire code, job number, or process identifier—the system instantly distributes that information across the entire display network.
The displays themselves are designed for visibility and durability in industrial environments. Each enclosure contains two 4-inch high numeric displays, providing clear readability from distances up to 200 feet. These units are suspended throughout the plant and connected using a two-conductor, 22-gauge party-line configuration. This daisy-chain wiring approach minimizes installation complexity while maintaining reliable communication between all units.
This custom system specifically utilizes three DC-40T-DN-UP-STATIC-SYSTEM-2-IN-1 enclosures as part of its operation. Each enclosure houses dual displays, allowing multiple tire codes or identifiers to be shown simultaneously within a single mounting point, further improving efficiency and visibility across the facility.
Data transmission is handled efficiently through the master control, which sends a 24-volt signal across the two-wire network to update each display. Operators can quickly input values through the web interface—entering up to four-digit numerals per display—and send them to specific locations. With a simple carriage return, the system refreshes and updates the selected display in real time. Clearing or changing values is just as easy, ensuring flexibility for dynamic production needs.
Key features of the Tire Code Identification System include:
- Centralized network control via a customizable web interface
- Two-conductor (22 AWG) party-line wiring for simplified installation
- Dual 4-inch displays per enclosure, visible up to 200 feet
- Integration of three DC-40T-DN-UP-STATIC-SYSTEM-2-IN-1 enclosures
- 110V powered display units with 24V data distribution
- Real-time updates with simple user input and page refresh
- Expandable system supporting up to 670 displays
- Capability to extend beyond current limits with additional code structures
- Designed for static number or tire code display across plant environments
The system currently supports two-character codes internally, allowing identification of hundreds of unique display points. For customers requiring larger systems, the architecture can be expanded to include additional characters, significantly increasing the number of unique identifiers available.
In this particular application, the customer required approximately 60 display units, all operating from a single network connection. By leveraging the party-line wiring design, we eliminated the need for individual network drops at each display—reducing both installation time and infrastructure costs while maintaining full system control from a single interface.
Ultimately, this custom solution demonstrates the flexibility of our in-house engineering and programming capabilities. Whether you’re tracking tire codes, monitoring production targets, or displaying job-specific data, this system can be tailored to meet your exact operational requirements—delivering clear, consistent communication exactly where it’s needed most.
