This unit is a custom DC-80N-Quad-IN Network Time of Day Clock built for International Game Technology. The goal of this project is simple but critical for operational visibility: to clearly display the current time of day on four sides of a single enclosure, allowing employees and visitors to view accurate time information from multiple directions within a facility. By utilizing a network connection, the clock automatically synchronizes with the facility’s time source, ensuring consistent and reliable timekeeping across the environment.
The DC-80N-Quad-IN operates through a straightforward network-based setup. The unit connects directly to the facility’s network using an RJ-45 Ethernet connection, allowing it to retrieve accurate time data from the network’s NTP server. Power is supplied through a standard 120 VAC power cord, making installation quick and practical in most industrial or commercial environments. Both the Ethernet connection and power input are located on the top center portion of the enclosure, allowing for a clean installation when the unit is suspended or ceiling mounted.
Setup is designed to be simple and intuitive. Once the unit is removed from the box and positioned in its mounting location, the user connects the Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 port located on the top of the enclosure. After that, the power cord is plugged into a standard outlet. When the unit powers on, it begins its startup sequence by displaying 12:00 on the displays. The master side will briefly cycle through the unit’s IP address, allowing the user to identify the device on the network. Once connected, the clock automatically synchronizes with the network time server and updates to the current time of day. If the unit is not connected to the network, it will continue to display 12:00, indicating that a time source has not yet been established.
Configuration and monitoring are handled through a built-in web interface. By entering the unit’s IP address into a web browser, users can access the internal webpage that houses all operational information and settings. From this interface, users can view the current time being displayed, review network information, and manage time synchronization settings. The interface also allows administrators to modify system configurations after logging in with their designated username and password.
Within the configuration menu, users can adjust several key parameters. For example, the hour format can easily be switched from 24-hour format to 12-hour format by navigating to the configuration settings and updating the time format selection. The system also allows access to NTP server settings, ensuring the clock continues to pull accurate time data from the desired network source.
Beyond its functionality, the DC-80N-Quad-IN is designed for durability and high visibility in large facilities. The enclosure features a rugged construction and an optimized display format that allows the time to be easily read from long distances.
Key features of the DC-80N-Quad-IN include:
- Four-sided LED display allowing time visibility from multiple directions
- Network synchronization through RJ-45 Ethernet connection
- Automatic time updates using NTP server integration
- Web-based configuration interface for system management
