Requested by Overhead Door Company of Bowling Green, the DC-80T-DN-BCD Countdown Timer is a purpose-built visual and audible warning solution designed to improve safety and awareness in loading dock environments. This custom unit was configured to provide workers with a clear, unmistakable countdown sequence that signals when a dock door is in the process of closing. By delivering a highly visible numeric display paired with an end-of-period alert, the timer helps reduce uncertainty and encourages timely movement away from the door area before closure is complete.

This model operates as a countdown timer that can be triggered through multiple control methods, making it easy to integrate into existing dock door systems. Once activated, the display counts down from a preset value and continues to flash at zero until a reset command is issued, ensuring the warning remains visible until the system is acknowledged. An adjustable piezo buzzer sounds at the end of the countdown to provide an additional audible alert, reinforcing the visual warning for workers who may not be directly facing the display.

Timing values are set using BCD rotary switches located at the bottom of the enclosure. These switches allow precise adjustment of the countdown duration in seconds, up to a maximum of 99 seconds. Each incremental click represents a single second, enabling quick and accurate configuration based on the door’s closing cycle. Once set, the timer can be started, stopped, paused, or reset through control inputs, offering flexible operation depending on workflow and safety requirements.

The unit utilizes two 8-inch LED digits that are bright and easy to read from distances of up to 400 feet, making the countdown clearly visible across wide dock areas.
