RAM Windows & Doors had requested a custom dual-location time and break notification solution built around the DC-80N-BR-50-1RM-Master and DC-80W-BR-50-1RM-Secondary units. These networked digital clock systems are designed for use in production factories where precise, reliable timekeeping and scheduled break or shift change alerts are essential for maintaining workflow consistency across multiple locations.
The primary goal of this system is to clearly dictate when factory workers are instructed to go on break, return from break, or transition between shifts. By using a master and secondary configuration, the same time and scheduled bell events can be displayed and triggered consistently in two separate production areas, ensuring synchronized operations throughout the facility.
Operation begins by powering both units. An Ethernet connection is then made to the junction box on the master unit, allowing access to the built-in browser-based web interface. The master unit retrieves accurate atomic time from an external NTP server and distributes that time and scheduling data to the secondary unit using a store-and-forward communication method. This ensures that both displays remain synchronized, even in environments where continuous network connectivity may be limited.
The master unit’s web interface provides a centralized location for configuration and monitoring. From the homepage, users can view real-time product information such as model and serial number, current displayed time, NTP synchronization status, and network configuration details. The system synchronizes with its assigned NTP server at user-defined intervals, maintaining highly accurate time across both units.
Configuration settings are protected through a basic HTML username and password system, allowing authorized personnel to manage time format, time zone, server address, and synchronization intervals. The system supports both 12-hour and 24-hour display modes and includes multiple U.S. time zone options with or without daylight savings. Custom time zone rules can also be applied if needed.
Networking flexibility is built in, allowing the unit to operate using DHCP or static IP addressing. Device naming and IPv4 network parameters can be adjusted directly through the web interface, making the system adaptable to a wide range of IT environments within industrial facilities.
At the core of this system is the bell schedule, which is used to automate break times and shift changes. The master unit supports up to 50 scheduled events per week, each defined by a time of day, selected days of the week, and a bell action. When an event triggers, the integrated bell sounds for a fixed duration, clearly signaling workers to transition according to the factory schedule. These schedules repeat weekly, providing a reliable and hands-off solution once configured.
Key scheduling capabilities include:
- Up to 50 programmable weekly events
- Day-specific and time-specific scheduling
- Automated bell activation for breaks and shift changes
- Centralized control through the master unit
From a hardware standpoint, both the master and secondary units are built for demanding industrial environments. Each enclosure is constructed from extruded aluminum with an IP66 wet-location waterproof rating and a durable black powder-coated finish that resists fingerprints and wear. The bright 8-inch indoor-intensity LED display is readable from distances of up to 400 feet and presents a four-digit time display in either 12-hour or 24-hour format.
Mounting is simplified with four slotted teardrop mounting tabs integrated into the rear extrusion, allowing for secure wall installation in production areas. Optional accessories such as the DC-EOP-Horn can be added to the system, providing a powerful dual-tone audible alert rated at 122 dB for noisy factory environments. The master unit supports this horn directly, while the secondary unit can interface with a customer-supplied horn if required.
Product highlights include:
- Master and secondary configuration with store-and-forward communication
- Browser-based configuration with atomic time synchronization
- IP66-rated industrial aluminum enclosures
- 8-inch high-visibility LED time display
- Programmable bell scheduling for break and shift control
Together, the DC-80N-BR-50-1RM-Master and DC-80W-BR-50-1RM-Secondary provide a dependable, centralized time and break management solution for modern production facilities, helping ensure consistent scheduling, improved worker coordination, and streamlined shift transitions across multiple locations.
