The DC-40UT Time of Day, Up & Down Timer is a versatile standard unit designed for applications where users need a clear, easy-to-read display that can function as both a clock and a precision timer. This model combines reliable time-of-day functionality with the ability to count up or down from a preset duration, giving operators complete control with simple push-button navigation. The DC-40UT is an ideal solution for environments where timing accuracy and visibility are critical—such as manufacturing, testing, process monitoring, and general facility operations.

To begin using the DC-40UT, the client simply powers the unit and selects both the time of day and, if needed, a countdown value. The interface is intentionally straightforward. Located on the top of the enclosure are the unit’s push-button switches, which control each function. These include start and stop, selecting clock or timer mode, switching between up and down timing, setting hours and minutes, and resetting the timer to either zero or the previously stored value.

When the unit is powered on, it defaults to clock mode. Setting the time of day is accomplished by pressing the Set Hours or Set Minutes button until the display reaches the correct value. Switching into timer mode allows the user to operate the unit either as an up timer or a countdown timer. A small indicator dot shows the current mode: the top-left position indicates up timing, while the bottom-right position indicates down timing. In up timer mode, pressing the start button begins counting upward, capable of running up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds. Pressing stop will pause the count, and the Reset to Zero button clears the display instantly.

The countdown function is equally intuitive. After switching to down timer mode, the user simply sets the desired hours or minutes. Once started, the unit counts down until reaching zero, at which point the digits flash to indicate completion. The Reset to Last Value feature is especially useful in repetitive processes—pressing the button once stops the flashing, and pressing it again restores the previously programmed countdown duration. This allows for quick cycling of repeated tasks, such as countdown-based workflows, timed testing cycles, or periodic reminders.

A helpful detail is that the countdown timer continues running—even when the user switches back to the time-of-day display. The small mode indicator dot confirms that the countdown remains active in the background. Should the user wish to pause or adjust the countdown, pressing start/stop halts the process, and the unit can either restore the last programmed value or reset to zero.

From a hardware perspective, the DC-40UT is engineered for durability and visibility. It features an aluminum, tough, fingerprint-resistant black powder-coated enclosure designed for demanding indoor environments. The 4-inch display provides excellent visibility from distances up to 200 feet, ensuring that operators across large rooms or facilities can easily monitor the timing status. The display includes four digits, allowing it to function as both a 12-hour time-of-day clock and a detailed up/down timer.

The unit is powered by a 6-foot mounted indoor-rated power cord located on the lower right side of the enclosure. For installation, the back of the unit includes 4×4 or 2×4 electrical rough-in box slotted teardrop mounting points, providing flexibility for wall or surface mounting in various facility configurations. The push-button controls positioned on the top of the enclosure allow quick access to every function without needing to interact with additional equipment or external devices.
