Unlike standard pre-assembled units, this model comes without an enclosure, allowing customers to integrate it into their own custom housings. It operates on a 12-volt input, typically powered by a standard 120V wall adapter, making it simple to set up in a variety of environments.

At its core, the DC-10T-DN-UP-STATIC is controlled via an RS-232 port, which allows it to receive data from laptops, PLCs, computers, or even cell phones. This connection is facilitated with an RS-232 to USB converter when needed, making it compatible with modern hardware while retaining the reliability of traditional serial communication.

This multi-function display supports a wide range of operational modes, all controlled through proprietary DC-Digital codes:

  • Countdown Timer: Set, start, pause, and resume countdowns with precision.
  • Count Up Timer: Similarly, the display allows incremental counting for time tracking or event monitoring.
  • Static Display: Display fixed numbers with optional colons or decimal points.
  • Time of Day Display: Operates in 12-hour or 24-hour format, easily broadcast to specific addresses.

The display is addressable, meaning each unit can be coded to a unique address (e.g., AA, AB) or broadcast to all connected displays with a special command. This flexibility allows multiple units to operate independently or synchronously in complex setups.

Programming and Data Input

Users control the display through a simple terminal program such as Termite, where commands are sent directly over RS-232. The proprietary DC-Digital protocol provides detailed instructions for:

  • Countdown Timer Commands:
    • 0: Set and Hold
    • 1: Set and Start
    • 2: Pause
    • 3: Resume
  • Time of Day Commands: Set the hour, select 12-hour or 24-hour format, and target a specific display address.
  • Static Number Display Commands: Include optional colons or decimal points to suit the visual requirements.

Data is transmitted using 8N1 format, 9600 baud, no handshake, following standard ASCII code conventions. This ensures compatibility and ease of integration across different systems.
