At DC-Digital, we’re always excited to fulfill custom orders that bring precise timing solutions to large-scale operations. Our latest project is heading out to Whirlpool Appliances in Clyde, Ohio—home to the largest washing machine factory in the world. For this particular installation, the team at Whirlpool wanted a robust, double-faced digital clock that displays the exact time of day according to their own network time server—and does so from both the front and back of the factory building. Our DC-60N-IN double-sided POE-powered time-of-day clock was the perfect solution.

Purpose of the Installation

This clock isn’t just about telling time—it’s about centralizing accuracy and visibility. Installed high above the factory floor, this unit will show synchronized time in both directions, ensuring workers, management, and operations teams are always on the same page—literally down to the second.

  • Two-sided display shows the same network-synced time from both front and back.
  • Connected directly to the facility’s own time server via RJ45 Ethernet.
  • Provides consistent accuracy through atomic time updates.

How It Works: Setup and Operation

Setup is streamlined with our Power over Ethernet (POE) functionality. There’s no need for separate power cables or wall transformers. Everything—data and power—flows through a single RJ45 Ethernet connection.

Let’s break down the process:

  1. Power the unit using the RJ45 Ethernet cable connected through the DC-POE-3-TL-160S injector.
  2. Display powers on immediately, running through an internal sequence before showing a default time of 12:00.
  3. After boot-up, the unit displays its IP address via the LED display, confirming network communication.
  4. Once synced, it pulls atomic time data from the designated time server on the network.
  5. If no network is detected, it will default to the 12:00 display and remain there until reconnected.

This plug-and-play system makes it incredibly easy to deploy in high-demand industrial settings like Whirlpool’s Clyde facility.
