The result: the DC-40UTW-KEY-SYSTEM-W — a fully functional timer system with features built to enhance public speaking environments like council chambers, school board meetings, and timed public forums.

This timing system was engineered to meet four critical requirements:

  • Straightforward keypad entry for intuitive control
  • Multi-function capability including up-timer, down-timer, and 12/24-hour clock
  • Wireless control using a 900 MHz signal (requires a standard 120-volt outlet)
  • Two-button reset system for quick turnover between speakers

Simple Yet Powerful Timing Control

The DC-40UTW-KEY-SYSTEM-W is centered around a versatile keypad controller. From this controller, operators can manage:

  • Up timing (with or without a set threshold)
  • Down timing with audible or visual cues
  • Real-time clock display in either 12-hour or 24-hour format
  • Blank display mode and quiet mode for discreet operation

Keypad features include:

  • Dedicated buttons for each timer mode
  • Options for alert settings: flash, buzz, or none
  • “Set Value” and “Enter” functions for fast programming
  • Reset and start/stop controls for seamless transitions between speakers
  • Quiet mode toggle to eliminate button press sounds during formal settings

Wireless System Functionality

This system includes one master display and two secondary displays connected wirelessly via our proprietary Store’n’Forward technology. This setup enables:

  • Seamless data relay from the master to all secondary displays
  • Consistent signal across a 1500-foot outdoor range or 350 feet indoors
  • Scalability — add as many secondary displays as needed

The displays themselves feature:

  • 4-inch high-visibility LED digits
  • Extruded aluminum enclosures for durability
  • Digit Shift technology — automatically adjusts display from hours → minutes → seconds → hundredths based on input
  • 120V wall adapters with 6-foot cords for flexible installation

Designed for Efficient Public Communication

For board meetings or public hearings, keeping track of speaker time is essential. This system enables moderators to:

  • Set a threshold value for each speaker (e.g., 30 seconds)
  • Trigger an alert (flash or beep) when the threshold is reached
  • Track overage time automatically without halting the display
  • Instantly reset and reuse the same timer with a single button press for the next speaker
