This custom DC-40T-DN-DAYS-WR countdown-by-days timer was built specifically for a Space Force base in Colorado, where the goal is to track the number of days remaining until a spacecraft launch. Designed for long-duration countdowns that require accuracy, visibility, and direct control, this unit allows the user to manually set and manage the countdown using a wired handheld remote controller connected directly to the enclosure.

The countdown process is straightforward and reliable. Using the wired remote controller mounted to the right side of the enclosure, the user manually inputs the total number of days to count down from. Once set, the internal timer automatically decrements the displayed value every 24 hours. For example, if the display is set to 14 days today, it will automatically update to 13 days after a full day has elapsed, continuing this process until the countdown reaches zero. This makes it ideal for mission timelines, launch preparation schedules, and long-term operational milestones.

The wired remote controller provides precise, hands-on control over the countdown value. Pressing the +1 button increments the day count one day at a time, allowing fine adjustments during setup. If a correction is needed, the -1 button can be used to manually decrement the count. For faster setup, the Set button allows the count to automatically increment—first by single digits, then by tens, and eventually by hundredths of a second—making it easy to reach higher values quickly. Once the desired number is displayed, pressing the Set button again locks in the value. If the countdown needs to be cleared entirely, the Zero button instantly resets the display back to zero.

This unit is purpose-built to clearly display the current number of days remaining. The four-digit display can show up to 9,999 days, making it suitable for both short-term events and long-term programs. Once configured, the timer runs autonomously, requiring no further input unless adjustments are needed.
