DC-Digital has been working with Paradise Locker Meats in creating a clock that would be protected from the wet and oily elements of a their factory. Introducing our latest custom-built solution: the DC-40N-WIFI-NEMA, a fully network-synchronized time display system designed specifically for environments requiring both durability and connectivity—such as aquatic parks and industrial facilities.

The DC-40N-WIFI-NEMA is a rugged, high-visibility digital clock designed for demanding industrial environments where durability and accurate time display are critical. Built with large four-inch digits and housed inside a fully sealed waterproof NEMA enclosure, this clock is specifically suited for facilities where moisture, washdowns, and harsh conditions are part of daily operations. In this case, the clock is being installed in a meat processing plant where reliability, visibility, and protection from water and contaminants are essential.

The DC-40N-WIFI-NEMA arrives ready for simple installation. The unit plugs directly into power using a nine-foot oil- and water-resistant cord designed for industrial environments. The cord enters the enclosure through a sealed cable gland to maintain the enclosure’s waterproof integrity. Once powered, the clock immediately begins its internal startup check, cycling through the LED segments and electronics to confirm that the display and internal components are functioning properly. This quick diagnostic process provides immediate confirmation that the unit is operating correctly before entering normal time display mode.

The enclosure itself is designed for both protection and accessibility. The NEMA housing hinges at the top and can be opened by loosening the three thumb screws along the bottom edge. This allows the lid to fold upward for installation or maintenance access. For mounting, the enclosure includes four through-hole mounting points located near the corners of the housing, allowing the unit to be securely mounted to wood, masonry, or other structural surfaces commonly found in industrial facilities.

Once installed and powered, the built-in Wi-Fi capability allows the clock to automatically synchronize with the network to maintain accurate time. Setup can be completed using any Wi-Fi-enabled device such as a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. The device simply connects to the default Wi-Fi network broadcast by the internal Wi-Fi adapter. After connecting, a browser is used to access the configuration interface where the facility’s network can be selected and the appropriate credentials entered. Once applied, the adapter reboots and begins communicating with the facility’s wireless network.

After the connection is established, the clock automatically updates to the correct time. An indicator LED located on the display confirms the connection status. When the network is unavailable, the indicator will flash periodically to signal that synchronization has not yet been established. Once the Wi-Fi handshake is completed and the clock receives the correct time, the indicator stops flashing and the display updates to the accurate time of day.

From that point forward, the configuration is permanently stored within the Wi-Fi adapter. Even if the clock loses power or the power is cycled, the adapter remembers the previously configured network and reconnects automatically when power is restored. This makes the installation effectively a one-time setup process for most applications.

If the clock ever needs to be moved to a new network or facility, the Wi-Fi adapter can easily be reset to factory defaults. A small recessed reset switch located on the adapter can be pressed and held for approximately ten seconds to clear the stored network information. After resetting, the unit returns to its default configuration mode, allowing the setup process to be completed again with the new network.
