We’re excited to introduce a new custom solution built for functionality, portability, and clarity: the DC-806UTW-BTC. This unit has been specially designed to meet the demands of portable timekeeping with a unique visual twist and robust technical features tailored to user needs in the field. In this video and article, we’ll walk through the key highlights and show you how it operates.

Key Feature: Decimal Point Instead of Colon

One of the most noticeable features of the DC-806UTW-BTC is its non-traditional time display. Rather than showing time using a colon separator (e.g., 00:00), this model uses a decimal point to differentiate minutes, seconds, and hundredths. This format is particularly effective for applications that rely on precision timing and quick readability, especially in race events or time trials.

Fully Portable Build

This unit was custom-ordered to be completely portable for mobile or remote operations. To accomplish that, we included:

  • A carrying handle for easy transportation
  • A custom-fit carrying case for protective storage
  • A tripod mount, so it can be set up at the optimal viewing height
  • A rechargeable battery system with two 12-volt sealed lead-acid batteries
  • An integrated charger that indicates charge status via three LED brightness levels

The battery enclosure keeps everything secure and accessible, and the bright/dim LED setting allows users to adjust visibility depending on lighting conditions.

Operating Modes and Controls

When powered on, the unit defaults to Time of Day mode, which can be manually set for hours and seconds. From there, users can toggle between multiple modes of operation:

  • Count-Up Mode: Triggered by the decimal indicator in the upper left, the display starts from zero and tracks time up to 99 minutes, including hundredths of a second.
  • Countdown Mode: Time is preset (in this case, using hours to represent minutes and seconds) and the display counts down accordingly.
  • Pause and Reset Functions: At any time, the timer can be stopped and either reset to zero or returned to the previously set value for repeated timing cycles.

This allows flexible use across a range of event formats—from sports to industrial applications—where precise and repeatable timing matters.

Wireless Communication Built In

The DC-806UTW-BTC also features a 64 milliwatt, 2.4 GHz radio transmitter. This allows it to wirelessly communicate over distances of 150+ feet, depending on environmental interference. Whether used indoors or outdoors, this extended range ensures:

  • Remote operation when physical access to the timer isn’t possible
  • Clear visibility and control across large venues or staging areas

Durable Aluminum Construction

The entire display is housed in a solid aluminum enclosure, engineered for both strength and longevity. Additionally, the LEDs are mounted to protrude slightly from the front face, providing a wider viewing angle to ensure the time is readable from various positions and distances.

In summary, the DC-806UTW-BTC brings together portability, wireless control, and intuitive decimal-format timing into a rugged, event-ready package. Whether you’re coordinating races, training sessions, or specialized industrial processes, this display delivers high-precision performance in a format built for real-world demands.

Stay tuned for a demonstration of this model in action—and let us know if you’re looking for your own custom solution.
