Kettler’s Capitol Iceplex recently purchased a DC-Digital DC-80T-DN-W large-area wireless countdown timer for use at its hockey arena and public skating facility. The timer provides a highly visible way to manage countdown periods during sporting events, skating activities, practices, and other timed events.

The DC-80T-DN-W features 8-inch red LED digits that can be viewed from distances of up to 400 feet, making it well suited for large arenas and ice facilities where clear visibility is important. Its sunlight-resistant LEDs and IP-66-rated aluminum enclosure also allow the timer to be used in both indoor and outdoor environments.

The wireless countdown timer can count down from 99 hours to hundredths of a second and is operated using an RF wireless remote control. The LoRa-based wireless system provides a control range of more than 1,500 feet outdoors and more than 300 feet indoors, giving operators flexibility when positioning the timer within a facility. Top-mounted switches are also available for direct operation.

The DC-80T-DN-W provides several control functions, including start/stop, reset to the last value, reset to zero, and individual hour, minute, and second adjustments. The timer also retains its last programmed value when power is removed, helping simplify repeated use.

At the end of a countdown, the display flashes to indicate that the programmed period has reached 00:00. Optional end-of-period indicators, including a flashing count-up overage display, tone, ANDON light, or relay outputs, can provide additional notification when a countdown is complete.
