This video demonstrates how to use our custom DC-409T-DN countdown to event timer, followed by an overview of the hardware, physical features, and the improvements that have been made compared to our previous model. The DC-409T-DN is designed to provide a simple and reliable way to count down to a scheduled event using clearly labeled push-button controls and a highly visible LED display. Its straightforward interface allows users to quickly configure the countdown time and operate the timer without the need for external connections or complex programming.
The timer is configured using dedicated buttons located on the front panel that allow you to set days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Days are entered using separate controls for hundreds, tens, and ones, giving the timer the flexibility to support long-duration countdowns. Additional buttons allow users to set hours, minutes, and seconds individually, making it easy to dial in the exact duration needed for the event.
Once the desired time has been entered, the timer can be started using the start/stop button located on the right side of the case. Pressing the button once begins the countdown, while pressing it again will pause the timer. If the timer needs to be cleared and returned to zero, the zero reset button located on the left side of the enclosure instantly resets the display.
The time setting buttons operate in a cycle-based format. Each press increments the selected unit until it reaches its maximum value, after which it rolls back to zero and continues cycling. Hours increment through a 24-hour cycle, while both minutes and seconds increment from 0 to 59 before returning to zero.

One important difference from earlier versions is the addition of the dedicated seconds set button and the zero reset function. In previous models, users were only able to set days, hours, and minutes, and the start/stop control was positioned where the seconds button is now located. These improvements make the DC-409T-DN easier to configure and allow for more precise countdown timing.
When the timer reaches zero, the display simply stops without producing an end-of-period beep or audible alert. This makes the timer suitable for environments where silent operation is preferred.
Key functional highlights include:
- Countdown to event timer with adjustable days, hours, minutes, and seconds
- Dedicated set buttons for each time unit including hundreds, tens, and ones for days
- Start/stop control for beginning or pausing the countdown
- Zero reset button for quickly clearing the display
- Silent completion when the timer reaches zero
The DC-409T-DN also includes several hardware features designed for durability and reliable operation. The enclosure is constructed from powder-coated aluminum extrusion, providing a sturdy and professional housing for the electronics. Four teardrop mounting tabs are built into the back of the case, allowing the timer to be easily mounted to a wall or other flat surface.
The display uses large, easy-to-read four-inch red segmented LED digits. With nine digits in total, the display provides clear visibility for the full countdown duration, making it suitable for environments where the timer must be seen from across a room or facility.
Additional hardware features include:
- Four-inch red segmented LED digits
- Nine digit display for extended countdown durations
- Powder-coated aluminum extrusion enclosure
- Integrated teardrop mounting tabs for easy wall installation
- Environmentally sealed push buttons located directly on the case
The timer is powered using a 12-volt, one-amp wall adapter. All functions are controlled directly from the push buttons on the enclosure, meaning there are no external trigger connections or additional wiring required for operation.
A built-in rechargeable battery backup is also included on the back of the case. The backup uses a 9-volt rechargeable battery and ensures the timer retains its countdown position if main power is interrupted. During a power loss the display will temporarily turn off, but the internal countdown continues. When power is restored, the display lights back up and shows the current countdown value.
Battery backup benefits include:
- Retains countdown time during power interruptions
- Rechargeable 9-volt battery located in the rear battery compartment
- Timer continues counting down even when the display is temporarily off
Like all of our timers and counters, the DC-409T-DN is manufactured and assembled at our facility in Carlisle, Ohio, where each unit is built and tested to ensure reliable operation in a wide range of environments.
