FAQ – Why are LED digital clocks more reliable than analog clocks?

Q: Why are LED digital clocks more reliable than analog clocks?

A: LED digital clocks have no moving parts to wear out. However LED technology will reach its, “Half Life”, expectancy after 100,000 hours of use, or about 11.4 years. This means the digits will begin to dim somewhat.. That’s why we have field replaceable digits, (or LED cubes).
