Whirlpool Corporation<\/a> purchased a DC-Digital DC-40T-UP-Term Count Up Timer<\/a> to monitor the amount of time required to change colors in its powder coating department. The large, highly visible timer provides production personnel with an immediate visual indication of how much time has elapsed during the color change process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DC-40T-UP-Term<\/a> counts up from hundredths of a second to 99 hours using DC-Digital’s Shift Digit Technology. This allows the display to provide precise elapsed-time information while accommodating processes that may take significantly longer than a traditional timer’s range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Whirlpool’s<\/a> application, the timer is integrated with the department’s control system using 24 VDC signals. One 24-volt input starts and resets the timer, while another 24-volt input stops the timer. The DC-40T-UP-Term<\/a> can also accept several types of external control inputs, including momentary contact closure, PNP 5\u201330 VDC, and an optional NPN configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The timer features four super-bright, 7-segment, bar-type red LEDs with a 660 nm wavelength. Each digit measures 4 inches high, providing a viewing distance of up to 200 feet. This makes the display suitable for production environments where operators need to see elapsed time from across the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built for demanding industrial applications, the standard DC-40T-UP-Term<\/a> features a tough 14-gauge aluminum enclosure with a fingerprint-resistant black powder coating. NEMA 4X and IP66-rated aluminum enclosure options are also available for applications requiring additional environmental protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DC-40T-UP-Term<\/a> measures 16-1\/4 inches wide by 6-3\/4 inches tall by 3 inches deep. Power is supplied by an included 120\u2013240 VAC wall adapter with a 6-foot cord, while the timer can also accept customer-supplied 24 VDC at 500 mA through its terminal block connection when applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By providing a clear, continuously updating display of elapsed time, the DC-40T-UP-Term<\/a> gives Whirlpool’s<\/a> powder coating department a practical way to monitor color changeover times and make process timing more visible to production personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
