In this custom installation, we are highlighting some of the modern upgrades and enhanced features that have been incorporated into one of our long-standing system designs while still maintaining the dependable operation customers have trusted for decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the center of this system is the DC-106N Four Wire Master Clock, with the \u201cN\u201d representing its built-in network capability. Once powered on, the master clock automatically connects to the network through DHCP and immediately retrieves the correct time of day from your designated server. The system displays the assigned IP address directly on startup, making installation and network verification simple and efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the major advantages of the DC-106N is its fully web-page-driven interface. Using a standard browser such as Google Chrome, Firefox, or other web browsers, users can access the master clock settings directly through their network. This allows administrators and maintenance personnel to configure and monitor the system without complicated programming tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The master clock requires a 24-volt power source along with a standard RJ45 Ethernet connection. Communication from the master is sent through a dedicated cable connection operating at 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit to the upgraded PS24BD power supply and distribution system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The PS24BD has evolved significantly since the original release of the system and now incorporates a robust UL-rated 25 amp power supply. The supply is protected against short circuits, over-current conditions, and over-voltage situations while delivering a stable 24-volt output to the secondary clock network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This custom system is currently operating DC25-2W two-wire secondary clocks. These clocks only require a simple two-wire connection because both power and communication data are transmitted over the same wiring pair. This dramatically reduces installation complexity and minimizes wiring costs throughout a facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recommended communication distance from the master clock is up to 1,000 feet using 22 gauge wire, although the system has been successfully tested at even greater distances. For distribution to secondary clocks throughout the building, 12 gauge wire is recommended for optimal performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another standout feature of this synchronized clock system is its precise synchronization performance. The master clock updates secondary clocks every 10 seconds, ensuring highly accurate timekeeping throughout the entire facility. LED indicators on the PS24BD provide real-time communication diagnostics. The red LED confirms incoming data from the master clock, while the yellow LED indicates successful retransmission of protocol data to the secondary clocks operating at 1158 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By slowing the communication speed from the master to the secondary devices, the system maintains stronger data integrity over longer distances while supporting a larger number of connected secondary clocks throughout the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During startup, the master clock performs a quick LED diagnostic sequence before establishing a network connection and transmitting time data to all connected secondary clocks. Proper polarity is critical during installation. Secondary clocks may continue operating with reversed polarity, but they will not properly synchronize or correct themselves. Likewise, communication polarity between the master and PS24BD must be properly connected to allow both the red and yellow communication LEDs to function correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The physical installation process was also designed for simplicity. The DC-106N master clock includes integrated mounting tabs for easy wall mounting, while the DC25 and DC40 secondary clocks utilize mounting patterns compatible with four-square or handy boxes. Adapter plates are also available for upgrading older analog clock systems, allowing facilities to modernize their appearance while covering existing wall openings for a clean, professional installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
